Dry Needling in New Iberia

Applying needlesNagging muscle knots, spasms, or soreness that just won’t quit can slow you down. Dry needling is a gentle way to calm irritated muscles and get you moving with less pain. Performed by Dr. Tina Theriot, it targets tight or tender spots. At Theriot Family Chiropractic Center, it’s a simple, natural option that often helps your chiropractic adjustments feel better and last longer.

What It Is and How It Works

Dry needling uses a very tiny, sterile needle—similar to an acupuncture needle, but not acupuncture. Dr. Theriot places the needle into a muscle trigger point or the painful area. This stimulates fresh circulation and helps the muscle relax, which eases pain. Most sessions take about 10-20 minutes, especially if you’re also getting adjusted.

Conditions Dry Needling May Help

If muscle tension has been tough to manage, dry needling may be a good fit.

  • Muscle spasms that limit movement
  • Trigger points and stubborn “knots”
  • General muscle-related pain that hasn’t improved with other care

Why Pair It With Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care restores motion and nerve communication, but it doesn’t always release every tight muscle. Dry needling goes after those deep trigger points that can keep joints from moving well. Together, they help your body work better, and many feel their adjustments “stick” longer. Dr. Theriot typically adjusts first, then follows with dry needling for targeted muscle relief.

HSA funds are welcome, and our PCD membership program can help make ongoing care more affordable for families.

What to Expect

Your visit is quick and focused. Dr. Theriot will find the right spots, explain what she’s doing, and keep things comfortable and efficient. Most dry needling sessions last 10-20 minutes, and many people notice easier movement as muscles let go. If you’re brand new to our office, your first appointment can include a consult, exam, and on-site X-rays if needed so we can tailor the best plan for you at Theriot Family Chiropractic Center.
